Microsoft Security Essentials loses AV-Test certificate

The leading international and independent service provider in the fields of IT security and anti-virus research, The AV-TEST Institute have confirmed MSSE has lost it's test certificate.
Microsoft Security Essentials was the only free
AV to fail AV-Test's certification in the last few months, an
embarrassing slip for the once well-regarded virus protection
solution.
In a report published yesterday (24/02/2013) at expertreviews.co.uk
- stated: "Security Essentials protected our PC in 85 per cent of
malware exposures. Admittedly, it only completely blocked 57 of 100
viruses, but it neutralised another 28 after the process of
infection had begun. In 15 cases, it failed to protect us. That's
better than having no protection at all, but 15 infections is not
good. It did well in our false positive tests, only blocking one
legitimate program, giving it a total accuracy rating of just
223.5." You can read the full report at
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk.
The AV-TEST Institute gave MSSE a total of 10.5 out of 18 possible
points, most notably falling short in zero-day malware attacks. As a
point of reference, 11 points are required to receive certification.
The fallen AV only received 1.5 out of 6.0 for system protection,
but fared better when it came to repairing infections and usability:
3.5 and 5.5 out of 6.0, respectively. To read the report visit
